The Pervert's Guide to the Cinema

Slavoj Žižek, a philosopher and psychoanalyst specializing in pop culture, in this three-part documentary takes on some of the classic movies of past and present, including The Matrix ("I want a third pill!"), Vertigo, Solaris, Trois Couleurs: Bleu, Lost Highway, and Eyes Wide Shut. His observations, often made on a reconstructed set, are insightful and stimulating, provided you go along with Žižek's theorizing: it's no secret that Hitchcock's movies are soaked in Freudianism, but Revenge of the Sith seems less obviously an Oedipal drama.
